Assistance with Governance for Our Bowling Clubs

Posted on 27 April 2022

It is the intention of the Irish Bowling Association in association with its constituent associations to aid clubs with the setup of proper governance procedures and policies. This will aid clubs in several ways:

1. Ensure your club is fit for purpose in all areas of governance.

  • Ensure clubs understand its role and responsibilities to its members
  • Ensure club support structures work well as individuals and as a team
  • Ensure clubs deliver organisational purpose
  • Ensure clubs exercise appropriate control
  • Ensure clubs can behave with integrity and by being open and accountable

2. Provide clubs with information and requirements to allow successful application of grants from external bodies e.g., District Councils.

3. Provide clubs with a full suite of policies and procedures to meet all future needs and requirements.

Some examples of core policies and procedures are listed below:
(1-4 are an essential component of governance all clubs should already have.)

1. Club Constitution
2. Membership application procedure
3. Safeguarding Policy
4. Disciplinary & Complaints policy

5. Quality and Diversity Policy
6. Social networking Policy
7. Data protection Policy

A club governance suite of policy templates will be added to this website over the following months.
