I am honoured to serve as President of the Irish Bowling Association in 2025.
Thank you to the ILB for nominating me, the IBA Council for electing me, and my own club CYM for their generous help to date and across the rest of the year.
I am fortunate to have a great team of Officers to guide me and thank all of them for their unstinting dedication to our sport and our members.
In an increasingly atomised society, the work of all the volunteers who make our clubs work should never be taken for granted and I hope that in 2025 the IBA will take our first steps towards acknowledging their selfless contributions.
The men who founded the IBA in 1904 did so in a very different world, and we must have both the wisdom to hold on to the best of what they have given us and the courage to shape an Association that can face the challenges of today and tomorrow.
I wish you a memorable and successful season, and that we all have the humility to recognise that victories are fleeting but what is of lasting value in our wonderful sport is what we share with all our fellow players, win or lose.
Oliver.
