What a great series for Ireland in this years Junior International series in Wales.

After a close first game against host country Wales the Ireland team triumphed with a 126 to 113 victory.

A great start to the weekend, which was blighted with lots of rain especially on the Saturday.

The second game was delayed by 90 minutes to allow the greens to recover and drain a little.

The second game against England started late and with a time limit if required. Ireland seized the initiative right from the start and they were never behind going on the win by 131 to 106

Scotland also won their first two games by 32 shots against England and by the narrow margin of 2 shots against Wales.

So the championship was to be decided on Sunday morning in a ‘winner takes all’ shootout against Scotland.

Scotland was slightly ahead in the early exchanges and at one point had extended their lead to 18 shots. However, the resilient Ireland team fought back to go ahead by 7 shots. Both teams exchanged the lead in an enthralling battle over the last few ends and unfortunately for Ireland, Scotland edged the game by 6 shots to claim the championship despite Ireland winning on 4 of the 6 rinks.

So congratulations to Scotland and to Ireland who put in a tremendous display over all three games.

So President Derek Forsythe picked up the cup for Runners up. Not quite the one Ireland wanted but a very creditable second place. Well done lads!!!
