Elite and Development Squad Preparation

Now that the International Series has been completed we have a series of Squad Session Days coming up. For those players in the Elite Squad this is a chance to stake a claim for the Commonwealth Games Squad in Australia next year and for those in the Development Squad a chance to impress and move into the Elite Squad for next year (Squads will be refreshed at the beginning of next year as previously stated)

The dates of the 2 Squad Session days are highlighted below. Players will have previously been notified of one to one sessions and should be aware of times for these.

• Sun 30th July at Old Bleach 11.00 – 17.00

• Sun 13th Aug at Aer Lingus 11.00 – 17.00

There will be three sessions of games in a mixture of disciplines over theses 2 days with a variety of combinations being looked at. Players will be notified of these combinations on the morning of each assessment. Scores will be recorded over the 2 assessment days.

There will also be a Test Match against Scotland on 27th and 28th August at Aer Lingus for the Elite Squad plus Graham McKee and Barry Kane from the Development Squad. The final assessment will be a Training Camp in Spain at the end of November  (final details yet to be decided). After this Training Camp in Spain the final team for the Commonwealth Games will be selected.

Following this we will move into the preparation period for the team leading up to the Games.

It is important that players buy into ALL of this preparation and attendance at these events is COMPULSORY.
